Lado Kvataniya

Lado Kvataniya is a Russian cinematographer, screenwriter and music video cinematographer, born in Moscow on June 22, 1987. He graduated from the acting department of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) in 2009 and later studied screenwriting. He gained recognition for his music videos for Husky, Dolphin, Oxxxymiron, Manizha and the band Leningrad.

Kvataniya approaches music videos as self-contained stories, with fully developed characters, conflict and striking imagery. His interest in psychologically complex narratives carried over into his feature debut, The Execution. The crime thriller follows an investigator who must reopen a serial murder case and reconsider his earlier conclusions. The film premiered in 2021 and was released theatrically in Russia in April 2022.

Lado Kvataniya’s collaboration with Hype spans commercials, music videos and feature films. His projects with Hype Production include the music video Untitled for Maslo Chernogo Tmina, in which he blends everyday settings with surreal imagery. This creative partnership continued with his debut thriller, The Execution, produced by Hype Film.
